The editorial team
Who wrote what, and how much of it.

Explainers, guides and the numbers section published since the relaunch are written and checked by the desk rather than by a single byline. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight: those pieces explain rules, contract mechanics and statistical definitions, they are corrected in place whenever the league changes something, and the person who first drafted one is rarely the person who last checked it. Attaching a single name to a page that four people have edited would say less about who is answerable for it, not more.
How the archive is credited
Pieces filed between 2014 and 2016 keep the byline they went up under and the date they were filed. We do not re-attribute them to the desk, we do not strip the name off, and we do not rewrite the text to make it read as though it were published today. The counts above are recounted from the archive at every rebuild, so they follow the archive rather than a list someone typed out once.
Who is answerable
Editorial decisions — what is published, what is corrected, what is taken down — sit with the desk as a whole, and the address for all of them is on Contact. What we check before a page goes up, and what we do when we get something wrong, is set out in the editorial policy. If you would like to write for one of the basketball desks, the open briefs are listed on Write for us.
