Disappointments at home continue

Another golden opportunity went by the wayside Monday evening in Brooklyn for the Nets.

Following two straight inspired victories, including a triple overtime win against Jason Kidd and Bucks and an impressive win the next night in Indiana, the Nets returned home to face the Celtics with the final Eastern Conference playoff spot on the line.  A victory would have garnered Brooklyn a tie for the final playoff berth.

But the defining story of the 2014-15 season for the Nets will have been written at home in the Barclay’s Center.  For whatever reason, the Barclay’s Center has not been kind to the Nets, as they shot terribly Monday night, 36% from the field and just 1 of 17 from three.  The Nets have just not established a home court advantage this season in the Borough of Kings and are in fact the only NBA team with a better road record than home record.

Better play and an inspired, passionate and emotional fan base will be needed in order to find success going forward. The Nets may not be too far away from the eighth and final playoff spot, but they won’t be able to advance in the playoffs if they cannot win at home.
