With the NBA Draft less than three weeks away, we will be showcasing some of the top prospects that the Nets can draft. With the addition of Thaddeus Young, the Nets have shown that they want to get younger moving forward. This year, the Nets have rights to the 29th and 41st picks in the draft.

The 2015 NBA Draft is full of many exciting prospects. Here’s a closer look at Wisconsin’s Sam Dekker.

Position: Small Forward

Height: 6’9″

Weight: 230 lbs.

Pros: Sam Dekker is a NBA-ready combo forward with great size.  He is a fundamentally sound player on both the offensive and defensive side of the court. Offensively, Dekker can score from inside and out and helps spread the floor well for his teammates. Despite his explosiveness to get to the basket and ability to score from deep, Dekker often makes the extra pass when needed. In the past season, Sam Dekker averaged 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.

Weaknesses: Sam Dekker is a good athlete, not a great one. For his size, he has small arms (6-10 wingspan). Furthermore, he must develop more consistency in his jump shot and improve his free-throw and three-point shooting to take his game to the next level.

Why the Nets should draft him: With Mason Plumlee backing up Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young starting at Power Forward, the Nets could use another scoring big-man like Dekker to compliment Plumlee off the bench and space the floor well.
