Former Net Gerald Wallace contemplates retirement

Gerald Wallace is signed through the 2015-2016 season with $10 million remaining on his deal with the Boston Celtics.

While Wallace will play through his current contract, he will likely spent much of the offseason compemplating whether we will retire following the 15-16 season.

“Hopefully, I’ll reflect going into the last year of my deal. This is my [14th] year. You kind of sit back and look at your career and all you’ve done and kind of just evaluate your past and try to set up for your future and see what you want to do. That’s the time I’ll do it, in the offseason.”

Gerald Wallace love basketball, but needs to decide whether he would rather spend more time with his family and kids.

“I would love to continue to play, but it’s more about my family and my kids. I’m only 32 years old and I’ve been in here 14 years. That’s almost half of my life in this league. My kids are getting older. They’re starting to play high school sports now. It depends on if they’re comfortable with me still playing or they’re ready for me to come home and be part of their lives.”

Gerald Wallace played one complete season with the Brooklyn Nets after signing a 4-year, $40 million contract extension in 2012. He averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game for the Nets. Although his stats do not jump off the page, “Crash” consistently played with energy and passion and gave the team a boost both on and off the court. His services will greatly be missed in the NBA.
