Philadelphia 76ers claim Thomas Robinson

The Philadelphia 76ers have acquired forward Thomas Robinson through a waiver claim. Robinson had reached agreement on a deal with the Brooklyn Nets should he have cleared waivers and become a free agent.

Looks like the Nets may be going after Andray Blatche after all.

As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Brooklyn Nets have agreed to sign Thomas Robinson to a 10-day contract once he clears waivers on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Robinson, a 6’9″ forward out of Kansas, was drafted fifth overall in the 2012 NBA draft after a consensus All-American junior season. Since entering the NBA, he has struggled to fit on a roster and meet the hype associated with a lottery draft pick. The Nets will be his fourth team in three seasons. In 32 games with the Trailblazers, Robinson averaged 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game.

If Robinson signs with the team for the rest of the season, the fifteenth and final roster spot will be filled, which would mean that the Nets cannot sign Andray Blatche.
