Hornets, Nets discussing deal centered around Joe Johnson, Lance Stephenson

The Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets have resumed trade talks, according to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Hornets and Nets are now discussing a trade package that would send Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson and Marvin Williams to the Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets, who have now dropped eight of their last ten games, have fallen behind the Charlotte Hornets for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Michael Jordan, owner of the Charlotte Hornets, is interested in adding Joe Johnson to the team. Although the guard has struggled this season and has one of the largest contracts in the deal, adding Johnson may allow the Hornets to make a deep playoff run this season. Joe Johnson is set to make $23.1 million in 2014-15 deal and $24.9 million in the final season of his 2015-16 contract.

The Nets and Hornets were close to sending Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the deal fell apart in the late stages as the Nets organization was unsure  whether they wanted to trade their All-star big man.

Johnson is averaging 15.5 points and 4.6 rebounds this season.
