Should the Brooklyn Nets bring back Andray Blatche?

Andray Blatche is currently playing basketball for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, but he could make a return to the NBA as early as February. The Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, and the Memphis Grizzlies have all expressed interest in the 6’11” center.

Last season, Blatche played an important role in the Nets offense. His tenacity and hustle on the court allowed Blatche to make the most of his minutes. In the 2013-14 season, Blatche averaged 11.2 points and 5.3 rebounds, while posting a 18.85 PER. However, his off-the-court issues prevented him from attracting much attention during free-agency. When no NBA team chose to sign Blatche, he decided to take his talents to China, where he signed a lucrative contract with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

With Brook Lopez on the trade block and Mirza Teletovic out for the season, the Nets have once again shown interest in Blatche. The Nets could use another scoring big man who can rebound the ball effectively. The addition of Blatche can allow the Nets to send Baylor star and rookie, Cory Jefferson, to the D-League if the Nets decide to purchase a D-League team. This can allow the Baylor power forward to grow as a player and individual with more playing time.

Signing Blatche doesn’t have to be a long-term solution for the Nets. Blatche can fills some of Brooklyn’s holes now, but can be traded away in the future for an athletic wing player, which the Nets desperately need.
