Joe Johnson and Deron Williams are Non-Factors in New Nets Letter
A few weeks ago, Nets executives met in Moscow to discuss both the current and future state of the team. In attendance were owner Mikhail Prokhorov, COO Freddie Mangione, General Manager Billy King and CEO Brett Yormark.
It appears that the most important takeaways from that meeting don’t include what the Nets will do with two of their once “star players”: Joe Johnson and Deron Williams. In a recent letter to season ticket holders, Yormark and King promised to improve the overall efficiency of the team with hopes to resign Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young. Additionally, they wrote: “We will continue to build on our emerging young core of players, such as Mason Plumlee, Bojan Bogdanovic, Markel Brown and Sergey Karasev.”
The letter, albeit relatively short, even included information about the new HSS Training Center, the 2015 NBA Draft, and whether the Nets are willing to pursue trades over the summer. However, no mention was made of Johnson and Williams, which further intensifies speculation that neither player will be wearing a Nets jersey next season.
