Nets Ink Contract with Justin Harper
The Brooklyn Nets have apparently taken a break from signing new point guards and, instead, brought aboard a power forward.
Justin Harper is his name, and the Nets’ front office solidified their new-found relationship this past Friday with a contract (whose details still remain obscure for now), welcoming the 6’10”, 225-pound power forward to BK.
Harper was originally selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 32nd pick in the 2nd round of the 2011 NBA Draft. By the end of that night, however, he signed with the Orlando Magic where he spent his rookie season averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds in 6 minutes per game (14 games total).
Harper is also a product of Richmond University. Check out some highlights from his senior year there, in which he shepherded the R.U. Spiders to a school-record 29 wins and to the Atlantic 10 Championship:
This year, the 26-year-old also participated as a member of the Phoenix Suns’ Las Vegas Summer League entry. And, here he is in 2013 with a monstrous block during a Summer League matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, which lead to a Miles Plumlee slam dunk on the other end:
