During a typical NBA season, an advance scout goes from airport to airport, arena to arena to watch and diagram how each team plays. Then, the scout reports back to the coaching staff to suggests a game plan to win.
The life of an advance scout is not simply a job, but a lifestyle – and a rather hectic one. In one season, an advance scout travels around the country watching and writing reports for close 150 different NBA games. This lifestyle took a toll on the life of Jim Sann, who suffered a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest on Sunday.
According to multiple reports, Nets trainer, Tim Walsh, helped advance scout Jim Sann by performing CPR and using a defibrillator.
“We’re thankful that Jim is alive and everything worked out for him. Tim did his job, and he did it good,” Lionel Hollins commented following the incident.
Jim Sann is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday.
