Is Kevin Garnett heading back to the Timberwolves?
With the trade deadline just a few hours away, the rumor mill is in full effect for the Brooklyn Nets.
As reported by Marc Stein of ESPN, the Minnesota Timberwolves are making a push to trade Kevin Garnett for Thaddeus Young. Kevin Garnett is one of only six players in the NBA to have a full no-trade clause, which means that he would have to agree to be traded in order for the trade to go through.
This season, Thaddeus Young is averaging 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for the Timberwolves, while Garnett is averaging 6.8 points and 6.8 rebounds a game for the Nets.
Although Garnett’s tenacity, leadership, and energy would be missed, Young would provide the Nets with a much-needed boost, as they look to make a push for the playoffs in the final stretch of games this season. For the Timberwolves, the team would be able to unload Young’s contract and bring back Garnett to where his career started.
Here is what Garnett told the media, when asked about trade/buyout rumors:
“When that road comes, I’ll cross it and I’ll deal with it. A lot of things with [my] family situation and things, it’s not just convenient to get up and move, to change things. It’s not as convenient as it once was when I was younger. I have a lot more responsibilities and things to take into account.”
