Nets Set to Buy Out Contract of Lawrence Frank
The Brooklyn Nets have reached an agreement with assistant head coach, Lawrence France, to buy-out the remainder of his contract.
Frank, 44, signed a six-year, $6 million deal with the organization during the 2013-14 season, becoming the top assistant coach of Jason Kidd. Things immediately turned sour last season when former Head Coach Jason Kidd and Lawrence Frank when Brooklyn’s top assistant coach was taken off the bench and “re-assigned” after disagreements between the two broke out in practice.
Lawrence Frank coached the New Jersey Nets from 2004 to 2009. Until 2008, Kidd played starting point guard under Frank.
Although Frank technically remained on the coaching staff, he was no longer seen on the court, attending the games and practices.
Three months ago, Jason Kidd requested more power within the organization and was promptly denied. He was quickly released from the team and agreed to be Head Coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Nets received two second-round picks as compensation.
