Report: Brooklyn Nets Trade Point Guard Steve Blake
According to Shams Charania of RealGM, the Detroit Pistons have acquired veteran point guard Steve Blake from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for forward Quincy Miller.

Blake, 35, averaged 4.3 points and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 35.2% from behind the three-point line last season.
Steve Blake was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a package with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson in exchange for Pat Connaughton and Mason Plumlee on June 25.
Quincy Miller, a third-year player, has a non-guaranteed contract for the upcoming season and should be off the books if waived by Wednesday. This deal will give the Nets an additional roster spot and $2.2 million of cap space.

Too bad that Corey Jefferson was punished, because he had a $150K guarantee coming due on July 15.
If not for the guarantee, surely he’d get a Camp invite. He may be prove to be more valuable than other Nets likely to be on the team (Reed, Karasev, perhaps TRob and even Brown). However, with 7 Bigs on the roster, including McCullough and Jefferson (all but Lopez can play PF), someone had to go, and CJeff wouldn’t count against the cap as long as waived before July 15. I hope the Knicks aren’t smart enough to pick him up.Now with trading Blake into “space” as I had predicted, there is only the formality of waiving Earl Clark (I didn’t even count him as a Big since he prefers to play the role of a shooting guard), but there is no hurry as he’s fully unguaranteed until 10/26/15. Without Clark, CJefferson and Blake, Nets will have a final cap of $82.78 million, comfortably below the new Tax threshold of 84.74, by 1.958. Barring some surprises, there really won’t be much competition in training camp, although Cliff Alexander should get an invite.
The 15 Nets on the final roster will include 6 bigs, 3 PG and 6 wings with many players capable of player two positions. This team is no doubt better than the team that started last season, and that’s not considering that 8 of the players (6 core players as well as Brown and Reed) have played for Hollins before. Of course, as always, the rest of the East has improved, on paper, so it always comes down to injuries.

Corey Jefferson has potential but is too raw and didn’t show much development in his game. I think it was a move the team had to make.

Did you watch Jefferson in Summer League? He’s beefed up and looks much stronger, and he has a good mid range shot which will only get better. He IS an NBA player and will do well in the right situation on another team. There is nothing RAW about his play and he’s also a good shot blocker and defender of both PFs and SFs.
