2015 NBA Draft: Where Amazing Happens (Sometimes)

With the NBA playoffs nearly over and the draft and free agency less than a month away, I am absolutely disgusted with the Brooklyn Nets front office. 

After crippling the franchise for short-term gains, Billy King and the Brooklyn Nets enter one of the deepest NBA drafts in years with the 29th and 41st overall picks. With assets like Mason Plumlee, Jarrett Jack, and  Joe Johnson, the Nets have plenty of assets to move up in the first round. While moving Johnson in a trade to land a higher draft pick in this year’s draft may mean that the team will have to sacrifice a future pick, I think it’s a move the Nets have to consider making. After reviewing the Nets roster multiple times, I’ve concluded that moving into the top 15 in this year’s NBA draft would immediately turn around the franchise. With players like Sam Dekker, Cameron Payne, and Tyus Jones likely to still be on the draft boards in the middle of the first round, the Nets can make a splash by acquiring an NBA-ready player.

With the draft less than two weeks away, teams are showing their willingness to move up in the draft. The Nets are one of those teams and according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, they’re willing to move former first-round pick Mason Plumlee to make that happen. Plumlee, 25, averaged 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks last season.

Though we are in a tough place as a franchise, I believe making moving up in the NBA draft will immediately improve our play and overall team attitude.
